This palace was a former residence of the Maharajas of Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir. It was built by Maharaja Pratap Singh in 1910 and later Maharaja Hari Singh had beautified the building.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6252\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6252\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kashmirhills.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/gulab-bhawan.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kashmirhills.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/gulab-bhawan.jpg\" alt=\"Gulab Bhawan\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6252\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6252\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gulab Bhawan<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p>After independence of India, the palace was converted into hotel &#8216;The Grand Palace&#8217; in 1956. In later years, Bharat Hotel took over it and restored and extended the palace.
