Located at an altitude of 4660 meters (15280 feet) in the Changthang area of the South Eastern part of Ladakh, it is the smallest of all three lakes. The salty Tso Kar is located in about 95 km northwest of the Lake Tsomoriri in Rupshu Valley. It is called as White or Salty Lake as numbers of salt dunes are deposited all over the shore of the lake. Groups of nomads can be seen all over the region and a considerable number of livestock including sheep, horse and yak are also seen grazing around the lake. The wetland of Tso Kar is also home to resident herd of Tibetan Wild Ass and numerous numbers of migratory birds.
