It is located about four miles from Srinagar city. The temple, also once known as Meru Vardhana Swami, was built by Meru, minister to King Partha who ruled Kashmir from 921-931 AD. The roof of the temple was carved out of a single piece of rock and known for its impressive designs and illustrations.
