The Shrine of Naqshaband Sahib is a well known khankah dedicated to the founder of Suf sect, Khwaja Syed Bha-u-Deen Naqsaband. It is one of the ancient shrines in Kashmir that was built in 17th century. The architecture of the shrine forms an important feature of it. It was built in Himchali Style with alternating layers of wood and brick to keep the force of earthquake at bay. This imposing structure is situated on the road between the Dastagir Sahib and Jama Masjid. The shrine complex houses a large garden and in 1931 part of the compound was converted to Martyrs’ Graveyard.<\/p>\n

The main shrine has the tomb of Mohi-u-din, one of the descendents of the Bhukhara mystic. Devotees from far flung areas come and visit the shrine to pay homage to Naqshaband Sahib. The urs of the sahib is observed of the 3rd day of the Hijri months of Rabi-ul-Awwal when thousands of pilgrims remember the great soul.<\/p>\n
